Is Voting a Skill?
Share
At Launchspace and UNBOX we say a resounding yes!
During our “Launchspace PAANCH SA (5S)” Ideation Workshops at schools, we give student groups rolls of round stickers to cast their votes on ideas. With 7 members per group, each is expected to use one vote. But when we check, each time, most groups use far more than 7 stickers.
Why? Because for students, the act of voting feels fun, free, and without boundaries. It reveals something very important:
👉 Voting is not just about choice, it’s about discipline.
👉 It is a skill—one that requires awareness, fairness, and responsibility.
👉 Without structure, even a simple exercise can lead to chaos.
This is why, alongside ideation, we now hold a special session on the voting process in every workshop. Interestingly, students often connect this to our country’s election system, asking curious and sharp questions about why rules exist, how votes are counted, and why fairness matters.
For us, it’s a powerful reminder:
If schools can teach the skill of voting early on, we aren’t just preparing future innovators - we are preparing responsible citizens.
Parents, teachers, school leaders - what are your thoughts?
Should voting be taught as a skill in schools?
